BIG FUN

’Light Steps’ celebrates and provides strong civic presence for Luminato Festival’s 2008 event headquarters at Yonge-Dundas Square.

At the request of Janice Price, CEO of Luminato festival, KPMB was asked to collaborate with an internal team and with designer Michael Levine to conceptualize an idea for the festival’s 2008 installation at Yonge-Dundas square.

The resulting concept – to invoke the classic dance/party hall – resulted in ‘light steps,’ comprised of several hundred illuminated and separately programmable spheres bobbing above the Yonge-Dundas square plaza to create a playful yet riveting party atmosphere for Luminato’s headquarters.

Work on the project was a pro bono contribution by the architects.
